The Beecroft Peninsula is the northern headland of Jervis Bay, and its main settlement Currarong is around 45 minutes drive from Sanctuary Point.

We headed to the peninsula on a hot Friday afternoon after work and began our trip out by driving down to Point Perpendicular Lighthouse – a lighthouse that was constructed in 1899 and was used until 1993. The lighthouse is on land owned by the Department of Defence and sometimes used as a shooting range – so the road is closed for about 100 days per year. In our case it was open so we were able to visit the lighthouse.

After the lighthouse visit we went to Currarong and then walked part of the Abrahams Bosom trail, which follows the coastline.

There was more walking to be done in this area, but as it was approaching 7pm we decided that we would come back the next day to walk Coomies Walk – a longer walk which went further around the headland.
