Trephina Gorge Nature Park, NT

Day Trip From: Alice Springs
May 2021

Trephina Gorge is a one hour drive from Alice Springs and is part of the East MacDonnell Ranges.

We started from the main car park at Gorge Campground and our first walk was the Panorama Walk – a one hour loop via the top of a ridge that had good views of the nearby rock formations.

After this we followed the Ridgetop walk to get to Turners Lookout (altitude 890m) (we started at 500m altitude). This walk was 11km return and the views at the lookout were definitely worth the long uphill slog.

Finally, having returned to Gorge Campground we walked the Trephina Gorge walk – a one hour loop which follows the gorge rim and then returns along the creek bed of the gorge (or vice-versa if you prefer). On this walk we saw lots of budgies!
