Triabunna, TAS

Mar 2023 - 4 days

We spent 4 nights in Triabunna as our last stop before heading up to Devonport for the ferry out of Tasmania. It’s the departure point for the Maria Island ferry – which is why we stayed there. We had a really nice cottage with an outdoor space, and the town was small but pleasant.

There was a short walk along a small rivulet which was good for work break walks, and we went to nearby Orford one evening for a beach walk – as Triabunna has a harbour, but no beach. The fish and chip ‘shack’ at the harbour is famous, and so of course we had to go down there one evening for fish and chips. It’s called the ‘Fish Van’ because it used to be an actual van (we visited nine years ago and it was a van then)

The good

  • Our cottage
  • The fish and chip shack
  • Five minute walk to the Maria Island ferry

The not so good

  • No beach
