Bunbury, WA
May 2023
Bunbury is around an hour and a half drive from Rockingham, and so we thought we would visit as another day trip with CC’s mum. It is famous for the Dolphin Discovery Centre which is next to a bay where wild dolphins often swim in for a closer look. We started there and ended there, but unfortunately did not see any dolphins (unless you count a very tiny speck in the distance that was apparently a dolphin).
After a coffee at the Discovery Centre we went for a walk in Big Swamp Reserve – a wetlands area – and then proceeded to visit Mariston Hill lookout and also check out the famous (sort of) black and white Bunbury Lighthouse.
We also had a brief visit the centre of Bunbury and stopped in the town of Australind on the way home.
