Carrickalinga and Aldinga Beach, SA
April 2021
We decided to check out the west side of the Fleurieu Peninsula by heading over to Carrickalinga Beach – a fairly famous beach which is about an hour’s drive from Goolwa where we were staying.
Our first stop was Normanville, which is the town nearby – population around 1000. We checked out the beach there and went for a short walk before continuing to Carrickalinga.
Carrickalinga had a long stretch of multiple beaches and so we walked along the coastline for a while, went to the top of a hill for a view, and then walked a small trail to Carrickalinga headland – which starts when the main beaches run out.
By this time we had eaten our packed lunch and it was only 3pm – so we drove onwards to Myponga Reservoir and had a short walk around a viewing platform there.
Our final destination of the day was Aldinga Beach, which had a wide flat part that cars are allowed to drive on, and also a more rocky area with some nice red-coloured cliffs.
