Bird Billabong is in Mary River National Park and it took us just under an hour to drive there from Humpty Doo.

Unfortunately while we were there, Darwin went into a COVID-19 lockdown and we were almost prevented from returning home…

There is a 4.5km circular walk around the billabong, and when we started walking at about 10.20am there was pretty much nobody else there. By the time that we left it was surprisingly busy.

There were quite a few birds on the billabong, but nothing too exciting except for a white-necked heron (yes, exciting for us because we had never seen one before 🙂 )
