Hallett Cove Conservation Park, SA

Day Trip From: Glenelg East, Adelaide
May 2025

Hallett Cove Conservation Park is on the coast in the suburbs of Adelaide. It is famous for its rock formations, and in particular ‘The Sugarloaf’ – a rock formation that looks like a small colourful mountain.

The conservation park itself is quite a small area, but it can be reached on foot via a coastal trail – so we decided to start our outing in the suburb of Marino Rocks and follow a walking trail south to get to the park. The trail was scenic but also pretty busy, and it crossed a few suspension bridges.

After a 3km walk we arrived at the official park entrance and then followed the signs for the Glacial Hike – a 2km loop that goes past the famous ‘Sugarloaf’. We then returned to Marino Rocks along the same coastal trail that we arrived on – with the whole trip taking about 4 hours.
