Mount Martin and Gull Rock National Park, WA

Day Trip From: Albany
March 2024

Gull Rock National Park and Mount Martin Botanic Park are right next to each other – and after driving for 30 minutes from Albany we arrived at Ledge Beach Car Park to start our walk to Voyagers Park and back.

Pretty much the entire walk was in Mount Martin Botanic Park, which we entered about two minutes after leaving the car park. The trail to Voyagers Park and back is a 13km loop with a small detour to the top of Mount Martin. It’s not a very visited area and there were very few people on the trail.

The trail went through some nice forested bushland and there were coastal views for much of the way. Voyagers Park is actually only 200m from Emu Point, a suburb of Albany – but as they are separated by water, a boat is required to get to the park this way.

We had actually stood at Emu Point and looked at Voyagers Park a few weeks ago – only 200m away by sea, but around 30km away by land – including 6km of hiking. Because of this, most visitors arrive on the beach of Voyagers Park by boat – we however, arrived on foot at 3.15pm on a sunny Sunday afternoon in autumn.

The entire walk from Ledge Beach to Voyagers Park and back took us around 4 hours.
