The Huon and Channel Area, TAS

Day Trip From: Cygnet
December 2022

While we were based in Cygnet we went for a couple of days out looking for short walks in the area.  A lot of the Huon Valley near us was farmland and so there weren’t that many natural unspoilt areas to walk in. We found a couple of walks over in the Kingston area (Alum cliffs track and Boronia beach track), one in a place called Sandfly (great name for a town!), and a few short coastal stretches in Margate, Woodbridge, and Charlotte Cove. We also incorporated a visit to GrandvEWE – a place where they make cheese and vodka from sheep products – hence the ‘pun’ name… We did a tasting tour and bought a bottle of peat-smoked vodka.
