East Perth, as the name suggests, is located just east of Perth CBD, and we stayed there for a week in a fairly battered serviced apartment (that didn’t get serviced). We walked the 45 minutes into Perth CBD a few times to go to a really excellent Japanese lunch place (amongst other reasons).
In East Perth itself there was a Filipino dessert/coffee place and also a Latin American grocery store – what more could you want?
As it was so centrally located, we did a lot of walking around the nearby suburbs – including Mount Lawley and Highgate. On the weekend, we did a 12km loop walk over the river to South Perth via Heirisson Island and back again via Narrows Bridge and the CBD.
The good
- Visiting Taka’s Kitchen Japanese Cafe in the CBD
- Latin American grocery store nearby
- Easy to walk to lots of places
The not so good
- Apartment was a bit rough and not very clean
- Battery went flat on electronic door lock and we had to wait 45 minutes for someone to come and let us in
