Port Vincent, SA

Sep / Oct 2021 - 5 days

Port Vincent was the first stay of the ‘mini-break’ that we took from Port Willunga (we wanted to continue staying where we were, but somebody else’s booking was in the way – so we left Port Willunga for 12 days and then went back to the same place).

As it was a public holiday long weekend, there were not that many places left to stay – but we managed to find a room in the Port Vincent Motel & Apartments, and that became our base for our visit to the Yorke Peninsula.

The weather was a bit windy and rainy at times, but we got a sunny day for our visit to Innes National Park, and we took day trips to Port Victoria, Edithburgh, and Stansbury when the weather was a bit rougher.

On our trip out to Port Victoria we stopped at the Watsacowie Brewery in Minlaton and picked up a large range of craft beers (Nordic Pacific Ale, Scandinavian Stout, S.Y.P. Pale Ale, Ethel English Porter) for leisurely drinking in our hotel room at the end of the day.

On work days we went for after-work walks along the coast from Port Vincent. There were walking trails in both directions, and Port Vincent turned out to be a great place for bird-spotting.

The good

  • Watsacowie Brewery
  • Good bird-spotting in Port Vincent
  • Emus in Innes National Park
  • Lots of walking trails around

The not so good

  • Quite a few days of rain
