Porongorup National Park, WA

Porongorup National Park was only a 35 minute drive from the edge of Albany where we were staying, and we went there to walk the famous Castle Rock trail which leads to the Granite Skywalk – ‘an amazing steel structure that winds its way around the massive granite dome, providing panoramic views of the surrounding countryside.’

The walk was just under 5km return and through some pleasant forest – but for us, the lookout at the top was a bit underwhelming – as it looked out over mostly farmland and was pretty crowded as well.

Unfortunately, the trails in the other part of the park were all closed for maintenance – and so that was it as far as this park goes.
