Lee Point, NT

Day Trip From: Humpty Doo
July 2021

Lee Point is just outside the far northern suburbs of Darwin and is a coastal reserve area.

It is known for its abundant birdlife – particularly the very rare Gouldian Finch. Alas, we didn’t spot one of these – but we did see a few other birds.

We arrived for a picnic lunch and then walked the trail to Buffalo Creek and back – which was about 1.5km each way.

The area was mostly sandy/muddy beach and mangroves, and at low tide the ocean was very far away in the distance.
