Mcminns Lagoon, NT
Mcminns Lagoon is on the edge of Humpty Doo, and it was so close that we went there two or three times a week for either a morning walk or an afternoon walk. It’s located in the middle of the suburbs, but it has an area around it set aside as a reserve.
There are a few different access points and trails, but the area gets flooded during the wet season – so when we first started visiting it was not possible to do a loop walk around the whole lagoon. By the middle of July though, it had dried out enough for us to walk all the way around the whole lagoon.
There were lots of birds around the lagoon, and we were particularly on the lookout for a black-necked stork (jabiru) – which we finally managed to spot in the last week of visiting.
