The d’Arenberg Cube, SA
September 2024
The d’Arenberg Cube is an art gallery and cellar door which is ‘Inspired by the complexities and puzzles of winemaking‘ – so the blurb says.
It’s located in McLaren Vale, just a short drive away from our base in Aldinga Beach, and so when our friend JH came to visit for a weekend we decided to check it out.
There were four floors which contained various art installations, a Salvador Dali exhibition, some restaurants, and a wine-tasting area with a bar. We checked out the art first, and then finished with a wine-tasting.
The most memorable areas were the sound and light show on the ground floor – which was was pretty weird, and the ‘sensory’ room – which had lots of old-fashioned squeeze horns. Each horn emitted a different distinct odour when squeezed.
The wine-tasting area was on the top floor and there were views of the surrounding vineyards.
