It was time to leave the Darwin area and our first stop on the way back down south was Katherine. We had stayed previously in Katherine on the way up to Darwin – but we were back this time specifically to visit Nitmiluk Gorge – only 20 minutes drive away from the town.

It was only a 3 hour drive to Katherine from Humpty Doo, and so we left after work on a Friday – arriving in the early evening. On Saturday we spent the day at the gorge, and then on Sunday morning we left to continue our journey south.
