Victor Harbor and Granite Island, SA
April 2021
We went to Victor Harbor quite a few times from our base in Goolwa Beach, and on two of these visits we also went to Granite Island – which is a small island connected to Victor Harbor by a 650m causeway. The island is car-free with access via the causeway only on foot or using a horse-drawn tram (yes, very popular with tourists)
There is a 3km loop trail on the island which has some great coastal scenery and also gets you up close to the large granite formations that the island is named after.
Our first time on the island it was wild and windy and it was pretty quiet on the loop trail. On our second time there, we actually walked from Port Elliot first – so we had 6km already under our belt before we did the 3km loop walk.
Victor Harbor itself is a decent sized town and we had a bit of a wander around the shopping streets while we were there. We also went to Victor Harbor to start our walk to The Bluff which is about 6km away.
