Snug, TAS
We stayed in Snug for just over a month in a fantastic place which was the back part of a house set in the middle of the forest, high on a hill. Driving up there felt like we were going to a National Park, with a narrow, winding, uphill gravel road leading us the 4km from Snug to the entrance to the property.
The driveway of the property was long and through the forest – in fact, from our back entrance to the gate and back was about a 15 minute walk – we didn’t even have to leave the grounds to go for a work-break walk!
Even though our bit of the house was attached to the rest of the house, it was still incredibly spacious, with two bedrooms and a large lounge and amazing kitchen. We also had our own carport, and our own outside patio with views out over the hills. It was also spotlessly clean, and we were provided with a cheese plate and cake – not once, but TWICE! Yes, it was possibly the best place we have stayed so far. LB came to visit us for a long weekend, and we had to tell her that we don’t always get to stay in places as nice as this one 🙂
One of the best things about this place was that it was only a 20 minute walk to the start of the Snug Falls trail – a one hour return walk through the forest to a beautiful waterfall. We went there after work most nights.
While we were there we did plenty of day trips, including trips with LB to Hartz Mountains National Park and Tasman National Park, as well as a few trips to the Hobart area (40 minutes drive away) and to the Blackmans Bay and Coningham areas which were close by.
Snug itself was a pleasant town with a small beachside area and some shops, and we walked down there (just over an hour to the main road) a few times on weekend days when we didn’t feel like driving anywhere.
